David's Midnight Magic is an early computer pinball simulation program for the Apple II , Commodore 64 , Atari home computers and the NEC PC-8801. The game was written by David Snider and published by the American game company Brøderbund in 1982. In Europe the game was distributed by Ariolasoft . Along with Raster Blaster and Night Mission , David's Midnight Magic was one of the first pinball simulations for home computers. In contrast to many pinball machines, there is no vertical scrolling here ; the pinball machine is located entirely on the right side of the screen. David's Midnight Magic is based on the design of the real pinball machine Black Knight , which was released in 1980 by the American company Williams . In 2005 the game David's Midnight Magic 2005 was released, which is based on the original, but was equipped with far better graphics and 3D effects. A pinball game from 1984 with the similar name Midnight Magic for Atari 2600 has been independently developed and has strong playful differences.
