David Brown (bishop)

David Allan Brown ( July 11, 1922 , † 1982 ) was a Bishop of Guildford in the Church of England .

life and career

Brown's schooldays began at Monkton Combe Public School and ended at the College School of Oriental and African Studies ( SOAS ). In 1949 Brown was ordained and a curate in the Streatham Ward .

In the following years he was a missionary for the Church Mission Society , where he traveled to various countries such as Sudan , Lebanon and Syria until 1966 . At the end of this he was appointed vicar of the Christ Church of Herne Bay .

In 1973, Brown was ordained Bishop of Guildford, where he served until his death in 1982.
