David Budway

David Budway is an American jazz pianist .

Budway began playing the piano at the age of five and studied classical piano at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh . With his sister Maureen he recorded his first jazz album Jazz, the Budway in 1989 . Eric Leeds , a former saxophonist with Prince , became aware of him and invited him to Paisley Park Recording Studios to record his album Things Left Unsaid .

In 1992 he made his debut as a classical pianist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra . In the same year he worked for the first time with the flautist Hubert Laws , with whom he recorded three albums. He has also worked with musicians such as Clark Terry , Joe Pass , Jon Faddis , Louie Bellson , Dave Liebman , George Benson , Mark Murphy , Jimmy Heath , Laura Macdonald and Dizzy Gillespie .

In 1997 he went to New York , where he accompanied Christiane Noll and became the pianist of Stanley Turrentine and the quintets of Jeff Tain Watts and Regina Carter . He also released several albums as a band leader.
