David Charbonneau
David Charbonneau (* 1974 ) is a Canadian astronomer and professor of astronomy at Harvard University .
Charbonneau received his BSc in Mathematics , Physics and Astronomy from the University of Toronto in 1996 . He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2001. in astronomy. In 1999, when he was still a student, he used a 4-inch telescope to detect an exoplanet passing in front of its parent star. He is the founder of the Trans-Atlantic Exoplanet Survey for the discovery of exoplanets and a pioneer in the field of atmospheric research of exoplanets. He is a co-discoverer of GJ 1214 b and has analyzed HD 209458 b in more detail.
