David Crolle (* in Stolp , Pomerania; † September 19, 1604 in Stolp) was a Lutheran theologian and the last Reformation superintendent in Stolp.

Live and act

In 1552 David Crolle began studying theology at the University of Rostock , six years later he received his master's degree.

In 1558 he was appointed senior pastor in Gollnow . Duke Barnim IX. personally called him from there to pastor in Garz .

In 1574 David Crolle was appointed superintendent in Stolp in the Pomerania region, where he succeeded Jakob Hogensee . The superintendent in Stolp was established in the course of the Reformation, as the distance to the superintendent in Stettin was too great (the term general superintendent came up later). One of the special tasks of Crolles was the inauguration of the first Protestant church buildings, such as the churches in Schmolsin in 1582 and in (Raths-) Damnitz two years later.

After the death of David Crolles, the title of superintendent in Stolp expired until the Prussian era. But the Stolper pastors retained the ius ordinandi (right to ordinate clergy), which is otherwise only available to the superintendent for a long time .
