David Davies, 3rd Baron Davies

David Davies, 3rd Baron Davies (born October 2, 1940 ) is a British peer and politician of the Liberal Democrats .

life and career

Davies was born as the eldest son of David Davies, 2nd Baron Davies and Ruth Eldrydd Dugdale († 1966), daughter of William Marshall Dugdale. He attended Eton College and graduated in 1961 at the King's College of Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1985 with a Master of Arts and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Davies is registered as a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers . He was 1975-2000 Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Welsh National Opera Company . Davies was 1997 Deputy Lieutenant of Powys . In 2004 he was Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Powys. He lives on the family estate in Llandinam (as of 2003).

Davies is currently not a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association .

Membership in the House of Lords

Davies inherited the title of Baron Davies and the then associated seat in the House of Lords after the death of his father in 1944 . His first contribution, which is recorded in the Hansard, is from February 2, 1993.

He spoke on the Welsh Language Bill , the construction industry and the Welsh economy in the 1990s . He last spoke there on January 31, 1996.

He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for one of the remaining seats.

It is recorded in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

He married Beryl Oliver, daughter of William James Oliver, on July 24, 1972. They have four children, two of whom are sons and two daughters.
