David Arthur Edwards (born December 14, 1925 in Llangollen , † March 4, 2001 in Harrogate ) was a Welsh football player .

Career

Edwards came in November 1949 as an amateur to third division AFC Wrexham , at that time he was a lieutenant in the army . Shortly before, he had played as a half- forward with Llangollen against Wrexhams Reserve, and he was also active in the army team Western Command .

For his only competitive game for the club Edwards came under coach Les McDowall on March 4, 1950 on the occasion of a 1: 3 defeat at AFC New Brighton , when he replaced Ron Wynn on the center forward position . Although his performance was judged favorably by the press, in particular he was praised for his "clever ball distribution" and because he regularly brought anxious moments to the "Rakers defensive [Note: Nickname of the AFC New Brighton]." With Jack Atkinson as an opponent he had " few opportunities to shine ”, yet he scored the consolation goal for Wrexham. Edwards subsequently no longer appeared for the club, and no information is available about his further career.
