David Gieseker

David Arends Gieseker (born November 23, 1943 in Oakland (California) ) is an American mathematician who studies algebraic geometry .

Gieseker studied at Reed College (Bachelor in 1965) and at Harvard University , where he received his master’s degree in 1967 and his doctorate in 1970 under Robin Hartshorne ( Contributions to the Theory of Positive Embeddings in Algebraic Geometry ). He has been a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles since 1975 .

Among other things, he dealt with modules of vector bundles over algebraic curves.
