Life

Martinus Jordanus was the son of the reformer and deacon (2nd pastor) who died in 1557 at St. Aegidien in Lübeck, Brictius thom Norde (Brixius Nordanus). He matriculated to study law in 1573 at the University of Rostock and on October 3, 1574 he moved to the University of Heidelberg . In Rostock he was promoted to Dr. doctorate in law. From Rostock, the Lübeck Council appointed him to the Lübeck Syndicus in 1601 to support the first Syndicus Laurentius Finckelthaus , initially limited to a five-year probationary period. At this time Lübeck was affected by renewed civil unrest, the so-called Reiser unrest . On October 28, 1620, he suffered a stroke in the town hall , from the consequences of which he died the next day.

His son of the same name, Martinus Nordanus, became a well-known theologian.
