David Healy (astronomer)
David Bennett Healy (born December 22, 1936 in Los Angeles , † June 6, 2011 in Sierra Vista ) was an American amateur astronomer and astrophotographer . Between 1999 and 2008 he discovered a total of 154 asteroids , three of them together with his colleague Jeffrey S. Medkeff . He made his discoveries as a retiree at the Junk Bond Observatory he founded in the Sonoran Desert in the US state of Arizona .
The asteroid (66479) Healy , discovered on September 4, 1999 by Myke Collins and M. White, was named after him.
