David L. Paterson

David Lord Paterson (* 1966 ) is an American screenwriter , playwright , actor and film producer .

Life

When Paterson was a boy, his best friend, an eight-year-old girl named Lisa Hill, was struck by lightning and died. His mother, the author Katherine Paterson , adopted this experience as the basis of her children's book The Bridge to Terabithia . David Paterson produced the 2007 film adaptation of the children's book and co-wrote the script.

He graduated from the Catholic University of America with a BA in 1989 . Paterson held special pre-screening of The Bridge to Terabithia for members of the CUA community on February 1, 2007 at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring , Maryland . As a playwright , Paterson has published over a dozen titles with Samuel French, Inc.
