David Moores

David Richard Moores (* 1945 ) is an English football official, former president of Liverpool FC and entrepreneur.

Moores and Liverpool

Moores was elected President of Liverpool FC on September 18, 1991 . The Englishman owns 51% of the shares in the club. Moore's uncle John Moore was president of local rivals Everton FC and owns shares in the Reds. John Moores founded a retail company in Littlewoods, with which he made the Moores family one of the wealthiest families in Great Britain . In 2002 the company was sold for the equivalent of around € 1.1 billion. The contractor was involved in the preparations for the construction of a new stadium for Liverpool FC. In February 2007, David Moores sold the Reds for the equivalent of around € 690 million to US magnates Tom Hicks and George Gillett. The amount also includes € 323 million for the new stadium. Under Moore's leadership, Liverpool FC won the following titles: three times the English Cup (1992, 2001, 2006), three times the English League Cup (1995, 2001, 2003), one time the UEFA Cup (2001), one time the Champions League (2005) and twice the European Supercup (2001, 2005).

Private life

Moores is married to Marjorie. He is also the heir to the Littlewood fortune. He is ranked 42nd among the richest Britons according to the London Times.
