Jacob Schneider

Jacob Schneider (born September 10, 1818 in Trier ; † March 17, 1898 in Kleve ) was senior teacher of physics and mathematics from 1840 in Trier, from 1844 in Emmerich and from 1858 to 1888 in Düsseldorf . He wrote various papers on physics, local history and archeology .

Schneider was a fourth class knight of the Red Eagle Order , holder of the Princely Hohenzollern Medal of Merit, Knight of the Third Class Cross of Honor of the Princely Hohenzollern House Order , correspondent of the Royal Commission for the Research and Conservation of Art Monuments in Berlin, correspondent of the Imperial German Archaeological Institute in Rome , master of the Free German Hochstift zu Frankfurt am Main, honorary member of the Royal-Grand-Ducal Institute of Luxembourg, the Society for Useful Research in Trier , the Association of History Friends of Rheinberg, the Düsseldorf History Association and the Association for Research into Rhenish History and Antiquities of Mainz, Foreign Secretary of the Association of Friends of Antiquity in the Rhineland , member of the Society for Rhenish History , the Historical Association for the Lower Rhine, the Bergisches Geschichtsverein and the Lower Rhine Antiquities Association in Xanten.

His areas of interest included, among other things, military routes and trade routes as well as their protection during the Roman era in Germania .
