David Nicolle

David Nicolle (born April 4, 1944 in London , United Kingdom ) is a British historian who specializes in military history of the Middle Ages , especially that of the Middle East .

Life

Nicolle worked for the Arabic service of the BBC before he graduated as a Master of Arts (MA) on the London SOAS made. He holds a PhD from Edinburgh University . He was a lecturer in World and Islamic Architecture at Yarmouk University in Irbid , Jordan .

Since the 1980s Nicolle has written, among other things, dozens of richly illustrated books, often published in series, on the military history of the entire world. Some of these works were created with other scholars and translated into several countries and published with great success.

Nicolle has been married to the American Colette Giroux since 1976. The couple have a son and a daughter. Nicolle lives and works today (2016) in Woodhouse Eaves in the county of Leicestershire .
