David Oteo (born July 27, 1973 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player in the position of central defender .

Life

society

Oteo began his career as a professional footballer in 1992 with his "home club" Club Universidad Nacional , for which he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División in a home game played on August 15, 1992 against Deportivo Toluca , which was won 4-0. His first goal in the Primera División he scored on February 6, 1994 in a home game against the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , which was also won 4-0. With his header to make it 3-0 in the 20th minute, Oteo made the preliminary decision early.

After seven years with the Pumas, he moved to the UANL Tigres in 1999 , with whom he was twice Mexican runner-up (Invierno 2001 and Apertura 2003): in both cases, the finals against CF Pachuca were lost: in winter 2001 with 0: 2 and 1 : 1, in the summer of 2003 with 1: 3 and 1: 0 (Oteo was involved in the first three games, he was not in the 1-0 win).

Most recently Oteo played in the Mexican second division with the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz and then for the Guerreros Hermosillo , in whose ranks he let his active career in the Apertura 2010 , at the end of which the Guerreros FC withdrew from the league, end.

National team

Between June 8, 1996 (1-0 against Bolivia) and July 7, 2004 (2-2 against Uruguay) Oteo played a total of twelve international appearances for the Mexican national team . His only international goal he achieved on June 27, 2004 to the intermediate result of 6-0 in the 59th minute in the 8-0 victory over the Dominican Republic. Oteo was part of the Mexican squad at the 2001 Confederations Cup and the 2004 Copa America .
