David Alan Robertson (* 9. April 1985 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is an American baseball player in Major League . He currently plays as a relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies .
Career
Robertson played on the University of Alabama college team from 2005 . In the 2006 MLB Draft , he was selected by the New York Yankees in the 17th round. In 2007 he pitched in the Yankees' farm system in the minor league . On June 28, 2008 he was appointed to the major league. With an ERA of 6.31, he was sent back to the Triple-A Team Scranton / Wilkes-Barre Yankees on August 28, 2008 . On September 13, 2008, he returned to the Yankees. The 2009 season began Robertson returned to Scranton / Wilkes-Barre. After an injury to Xavier Nady , he was called back to the Yankees on April 16, 2009, only to return to the Triple-A team the next day to make way for Juan Miranda on the Yankees' roster. On May 25, 2009, he returned to the Yankees to replace relief pitcher Brian Bruney . In the play-offs he made a significant contribution to the success of the Yankees: In a game in the ALDS and another game in the ALCS , he was substituted on when several runners of the opposing team were on base. Either way, he could finish the inning without allowing a run.
In the 2010 season Robertson is again used as a relief pitcher in later innings.
Private life
His brother, Connor Robertson, used to play for the Oakland Athletics and the Arizona Diamondbacks . He has been married to Erin Cronin since January 2009.
