David Schindelmeißer (* 1757 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † 1802 ibid) was a German wine merchant in Königsberg.

Life

Schindelmeißer was the son of Balthasar Schindelmeißer , who came to Königsberg with the Salzburg exiles in 1732 and opened a wine trade. His wine tavern in the Kneiphöfische Langgasse threw so much that he was able to acquire what would later become the Louisenthal estate in Juditten . David Schindelmeißer built what Ludwig von Baczko considered to be the “most beautiful house in Königsberg” in plait style on Domplatz . He stored the wines in the cellar, some of which he relocated to the cellars of the Berwart building in the northern part of Königsberg Castle in 1799 . He died at the age of 45.

The widow Karoline married Johann Christoph Richter (1768-1853) in 1806 , who moved the wine shop in 1827 to the north wing of the castle. This resulted in the blood court (Königsberg) . Richter was one of the richest men in town and became a goer in 1832 . Commerzienrat appointed. A crisis prompted him to sell the Schindelmeissersche Haus on Domplatz in 1843 to the Prussian State Bank (later the Reichsbank ). From 1928 the house housed the State Cultural Office.
