Wiktor Zieliński (born January 11, 2001 ) is a Polish pool player . With the Treviso Open 2017, he became the youngest player to win a Euro Tour tournament.

Career

Wiktor Zieliński started playing billiards in 2009 . In July 2013 he won his first medal at the European Youth Championships . In the 14/1 endless competition for students, he reached the semi-finals and lost to his compatriot Krystian Cwikla . In December 2013 he made it to the finals of the Polish men's 10-ball championship for the first time. In the last sixteen he lost 5-7 against Piotr Kudlik . At the 2014 European Schools Championship he won the bronze medal in 8-ball and 10-ball. With the Polish school team he became European champion.

In April 2015, Zieliński made it into the finals for the first time at the Portugal Open , when he took part in a Euro Tour tournament for the second time, where he lost 7: 9 to Miguel Silva in the round of 32 . At the 2015 European Schools Championship , he finished in 14/1 endlessly and third in 9-ball and became vice European champion with the team. At the subsequent Euro Tour tournament, the Austrian Open 2015 , he reached the round of 32 and was only just 7: 9 defeated by the then European 9-ball champion, Francisco Díaz-Pizarro . At the Dutch Open 2015 he made it to the round of 16 for the first time on the Euro Tour, where he was eliminated by Jonni Fulcher . In April 2016, after winning against Ruslan Tschinachow and Andrei Seroschtan, he reached the quarter-finals of the Austrian Open , which he lost 7: 9 to Joshua Filler . In the Euro Tour ranking , he then took 26th place. At the North Cyprus Open 2016 he again reached the round of 32.

At the European Youth Championships in 2016 , he made it into the finals of all four individual student competitions; After he was able to prevail in 14/1 with 75:66 against defending champion Fjodor Gorst , he was defeated in the disciplines 10-ball and 8-ball to the Bosnian Sanjin Pehlivanović . In March 2017, Zieliński reached the final of the Morocco Open after victories against Ralf Souquet and Francisco Díaz-Pizarro and lost 3:11 to Niels Feijen . A month later he reached the quarter-finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the second time at the Portugal Open and was eliminated 7: 9 against Souquet. In the Euro Tour ranking he was among the top 16 for the first time. At the European Schools' Championship in 2017 , he successfully defended his title in 14/1 with a 75:40 final win against Sanjin Pehlivanović. After he was eliminated in the semi-finals in 10-Ball, he met the Bosnian again in the finals in 8-Ball and 9-Ball, to whom he had to admit defeat 4: 6 and 6: 7 respectively. At the U17 World Cup in 2017 , he won the bronze medal after a 4-9 semi-final defeat against eventual world champion Pehlivanović. A little later, he made it past the quarter-finals for the first time at the Treviso Open 2017 , the last Euro Tour tournament of the year. After defeating former world champions Daryl Peach and Denis Grabe , among others , he won the Euro Tour final, the shortest to date, against Austrian Mario He 9-1 and was the youngest winner to date at 16 years, 10 months and 7 days the tournament series.
