David Seffer (born April 4, 1980 in Dohna near Dresden ) is a German-Polish film producer , film director and screenwriter who lives in Berlin.

Life

David Seffer spent his childhood in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains , which has always inspired him to new projects later. At the age of six he received dance and singing lessons in an international ensemble at the University of Leipzig . From 1991 piano lessons were added at the music and art school "Johannes Gredy" in Großenhain. Seffer performed there as a dancer, presenter, singer and pianist in the children's and youth dance ensemble. As part of his socio-educational training in Leipzig and targeted further training to become a media and film educator, he attended the "TV Academy Central Germany", which was then newly opened in 1998.

Seffer's entry into the film industry began with training as an assistant director while filming the Polish-American monumental film Quo vadis? Directed by Jerzy Kawalerowicz in 2000 and on the set of the Oscar-winning Holocaust drama The Pianist by director Roman Polański in Warsaw in 2001. During this time, he was already producing two small debut works of his own in collaboration with the WFDiF film studio Warszawa. During his training as a production manager for film and television, he worked as an assistant director, line producer or assistant co-producer at international film productions including the documentary Komeda: A Soundtrack for a Life with, in addition to the short film Rosemary's Music: I remember Komeda to another collaboration with Roman Polański. With his production company Alvin Film Produktion, he occasionally realizes his own projects such as short films, documentaries, feature films and co-productions in cooperation with international film partners.

David Seffer was chairman of the board of the Berlin International Film Association until 2012, which he founded together with other filmmakers and actors in 2007 to promote international exchange and the arts and culture in the film sector. He also worked from 2011 to 2012 as a lecturer and employee at the iSFF - Institute for Acting, Film and TV Professions. Since 2009, he has been a member of the “Directing” junior division of the BVR ( Federal Association of Directing ) and, in addition to film production, continues to work as a film lecturer and teacher at various educational institutions.
