The Davidson Glacier is a 17 km long glacier in the Panhandle of Alaska (USA).

geography

The glacier has its nutrient area at 1200  m altitude on the southern flank of the Takhinsha Mountains in the Alsek Ranges . There it borders on the Casement Glacier , which, however, flows west towards Muir Inlet . The average 1.3 km wide Davidson Glacier flows mainly in an easterly direction and ends 3.3 km from the Chilkat Inlet in a glacier edge lake . This is drained to the sea via a 2.3 km long drain.

The glacier has been retreating further and further in recent years.

Naming

The glacier was named after George Davidson (1825-1911), an American astronomer, geographer, surveyor and engineer.
