The Muir Inlet is a bay , at the mouth of the Muir Glacier in the panhandle in southeastern Alaska . It is located in Glacier Bay National Park .
In addition to the Muir, the McBride , Riggs , Plateau , Casement and Adams glaciers also flow into the bay. To the west is the Wachusett Inlet , to the east the Adams Inlet .
The bay was named in 1883 by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey after John Muir (1838-1914), a Scottish-American polymath .
