The parliamentary elections in Sierra Leone in 1982 took place on May 1, 1982 in Sierra Leone .
Electoral system
Since the country still had a one-party system based on the 1978 constitution at the time , all seats went to the All People's Congress . 255 candidates were nominated for the 85 members standing for election in the unicameral parliament . One person was elected with a simple majority in each of the 85 constituencies .
All Sierra Leoneans over the age of 21 who had registered as voters were eligible to vote . The mentally ill and imprisoned were excluded . About two million people were registered for the election.
