Presidential election in Sierra Leone 1985

The presidential election in Sierra Leone in 1985 was the only election as head of state of Sierra Leone that took place independently of the parliamentary election , and the first ever election to a state president. The residents of the country were called to vote on October 1, 1985.

Due to the one-party system in force at the time , only one candidate for the All People's Congress , Joseph Saidu Momoh , stood for election. There was an opportunity to vote no .
