Parliamentary election in Sierra Leone 1957
The parliamentary elections in Sierra Leone in 1957 took place in May 1957 in Sierra Leone instead. 39 of the 51 seats in parliament were available for election .
Result
The clear winner was the Sierra Leone People's Party under Milton Margai , which not only won 24 direct seats, but also secured the backing of all 12 Paramount Chiefs and eight of the ten independent candidates.
