Dawn Clifton Tripp

Dawn Clifton Tripp (* 1969 in Westport Point , Massachusetts ) is an American writer.

In 2004 her debut Mondgischt appeared in the German translation by Andrea Fischer. In it, Tripp transports readers to their home on the Massachusetts coast . It depicts the lives of three women in the fishing village of Westport Point between 1913 and 1938.

The second historical novel, Water Time , from 2005 takes place again in and around Westport Point ( New Bedford ). This time, however, in 1927 (time of prohibition ). It tells the story of the Bridge and Luce siblings and their grandfather Noel, who are increasingly drawn into the dangerous alcohol smuggling. Wasserzeit combines the genres of detective novels , historical novels and love stories in an unusual way.

The poetic writing style full of details from the history of her birthplace and distinctive descriptions of nature, sea and weather is valued by literary critics such as Elke Heidenreich .

Dawn Clifton Tripps books are partly reminiscent of works by Annie Proulx , Eva-Marie Liffner and James Ellroy .

On September 13, 2005, Dawn Clifton Tripp was invited to the Villa Clementine literature house in Wiesbaden . She read from Water Time and showed photos from Massachusetts.

The author lives on Westport Point Bay with her husband and son .
