Daydream XI is a Brazilian power and progressive metal band from Porto Alegre , which was founded in 2005 under the name Osmium .
history
The band was founded in 2005 under the name Osmium, before being renamed Daydream XI in 2008. In 2014 the band was invited by Mike Portnoy to perform on the Progressive Nation at Sea . In September of that year, the debut album The Grand Disguise , which was produced by Jens Bogren , was released via Power Prog Records . The second album followed in 2017 under the name The Circus of the Tattered and Torn via Sensory Records . In September of the same year, the group took part in ProgPower USA . In their career, the band has played with Angra , Symphony X and Paul Di'Anno , among others .
style
Alex Melzer from metal-observer.com wrote in his review of The Grand Disguise that you can hear progressive Power Metal that is very varied. Particularly characteristic in the songs is the singing and the frequent changes in tempo. Occasionally the group also recalled Angel Dust . The title song of the album stands out because of its length of over 23 minutes. Rock Hard's Mike Borrink described The Circus of the Tattered and Torn as a mix of power and progressive metal that was technically demanding. In addition, there are "rapid instrumental descents, one or two relaxed acoustic moments, fat choirs and with Tiago Masseti an absolutely assertive singer".
