Oberwittighausen is at an altitude of 250 m above sea level. NHN . The local boundary encloses an area of 574 ha. The village of Oberwittighausen ( ⊙ ) and the residential areas at the Gaubüttelbrunn ( ⊙ ), Grenzenmühle ( ⊙ ) and Ihmet ( ⊙ ) stops belong to the former municipality of Oberwittighausen .
history
The place Oberwittighausen was first mentioned in a document in 1060. In 1131 it was called Wittigehusen, and in 1243 it was first called "Wittingenhusen superior" (Oberwittighausen) in contrast to "Inferior Witegehusen" (Unterwittighausen). The community Wittighausen was formed on September 1, 1971 in the course of the administrative reform by the merger of the two then independent communities Oberwittighausen and Unterwittighausen .
