DeaDBeeF is a free, resource-efficient audio player for GNU / Linux , * BSD , OpenSolaris , Mac OS X . With DeaDBeeF For Android a variant is available for Android . The name is an allusion to 0xDEADBEEF in Hexspeak .

Functions

For handling different audio formats DeaDBeeF accesses specially ported - or existing in the system Codec - libraries back, including FFmpeg , libsndfile , dumb, and Game_Music_Emu AdPlug. A multimedia framework is not used in favor of speed, as is a database function in which the music collection could be managed.

In addition, the format of the MOS Technology SID sound chip ( e.g. in the C64 and C128 ), the audio formats of various older game consoles ( PlayStation , Sega Saturn , Dreamcast , Super Nintendo Entertainment System , etc.) and various tracker audio formats are supported.
