Debbie Davies
Debbie Davies (born August 22, 1952 , Los Angeles , California ) is an American blues guitarist.
Life
She got her musical knowledge from her father, who wrote arrangements for Ray Charles and was in the recording studio with Frank Sinatra . She grew up in Los Angeles in the 1960s when, as a girl, only the acoustic guitar seemed to be an option, because electric guitars were only considered suitable for boys.
When she heard the British blues and blues rock bands - especially Eric Clapton and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers - she knew that she wanted to play the electric guitar . She has played guitar in various women's bands, including Maggie Mayall and the Cadillacs, founded by John Mayall's wife . From 1988 to 1991 she played with The Icebreakers , Albert Collins ' band , whose influence on her guitar playing can often still be heard.
In addition to her solo work, she has performed with various bands and musicians, including Double Trouble , J. Geils Band , Duke Robillard and Coco Montoya .
