Double Trouble was a blues rock band that was best known as the accompaniment group for guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan .

history

Double Trouble was formed in 1978 when the group "Triple Threat" suddenly found themselves without a singer. Vaughan, guitarist of the band, took over the vocal part, and the group now called itself - after a song by Otis Rush - Double Trouble. The other members were bassist Jackie Newhouse and drummer Chris "Whipper" Layton. In 1980 Tommy Shannon took over the bass. In 1985 the keyboard player Reese Wynans (Ex The Allman Brothers Band) was added.

After Vaughan's death in 1990 , Shannon and Layton joined the blues rock super group The Arc Angels , which released an album in 1992 . After that, the two worked as a rhythm section for musicians like WC Clark , Kenny Wayne Shepherd , Jimmy D. Lane and Doyle Bramhall .

In 2001 they took part with a squad of well-known musicians - Doyle Bramhall, Lou Ann Barton , Reese Wynans, Jonny Lang , Willie Nelson , Dr. John and Jimmie Vaughan - again on the album Been a Long Time under the name Double Trouble .
