Deby LaPlante

Deby LaPlante (actually Deborah C. LaPlante, nee Lansky, second marriage to Smith; born April 3, 1953 in Trenton , Michigan ) is a former American hurdler who specialized in the 100-meter distance .

She won silver at the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City, and reached the semifinals at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

In 1979 she won the Pan American Games in San Juan and was fourth at the World Athletics Cup in Montreal .

She was twice US champion over 100 m hurdles (1978, 1979) and US indoor champion over 60 yard hurdles (1976, 1978). In total, she set four national records over 100 m hurdles, the last time on June 16, 1979 in Walnut with 12.86 s.
