The tree of 'Decio' grows medium to strong and shows little alternation . It is very susceptible to scab and powdery mildew infections . The susceptibility to fruit scab is particularly pronounced.
origin
The 'Decio' variety comes from Italy and was described there in the 16th century. The exact origin should be the Po Valley .
use
Growing 'Decio' is not recommended. It can be interesting for variety collectors and is also still used in cultivation for enthusiasts.
'Decio' is still offered in tree nurseries, where its suitability for the preparation of apple strudel is mentioned, while it is less suitable for fresh consumption due to its low acid content . It can be stored very well.
