biography

Before Def Cut released his first Maxi On The Run in 1996 together with DJ Jones, he produced the music for several breakdance crews such as "Basel City Attack" or "Rockin 'till Death". On the Run came to MZEE Records in Cologne through a friend and Zeb.Roc.Ski then included the track The Future in 1998 in the first "Battle of the Year" compilation. This was followed by further compilation contributions and a major tour and finally in 1999 his debut album Return to Burn , which found international recognition and gave him performances across Europe. Def Cut produced the title song for the Battle of the Year 2000, which was often shown on Swiss music channels and earned him second place at the Swiss Hip Hop Awards.

His first album Return to Burn was also released in the USA in the summer of 2001 via Bomb Records and his album Street Level was released in December 2001 in Japan. DJ Def Cut performs all over Europe, e.g. B. at the Festival Transmusicales in Rennes / France, as a DJ at the Battle of the Year , as a tour DJ for Spooman and Toni L or in breakbeat clubs in Zagreb, Belgrade, London and Milan.

In 2010 Def Cut separated from the German label MZEE Records and has since released its tracks digitally on its own labels Win The Crowd Records and DCP .

For more than 100,000 records sold, Def Cut received the gold record on June 22, 2017 for recording and collaborating on Kollega's Imperator CD.
