Deildartunguhver

The Deildartunguhver ( isl. Deila divide, tunga headland, hver hot spring) is a unit of hot springs located in Reykholtsdalur in Iceland . It consists of a number of spring springs that bubble up from the same hill.

Deildartunguhver is located at the exit of Reykholtsdalur to the northwest in the direction of Borgarnes at the end of Deildartunguvegur T518, which branches off from Borgarfjarðarbraut S50 .

These are the hot springs with the richest water in Europe and therefore also in the country. They have an output of 180 liters / sec. at 100 degrees hot water. Pipelines carry the water to Akranes, about 60 km away, and to Borgarnes, 30 km away . In addition, numerous hamlets and farms are supplied with it. In Reykholtsdalur you can find greenhouses with tomato plantations near the springs.
