Dejan Ilic ( Sr. Дејан Илић / Dejan Ilić; born July 27, 1957 in Smederevska Palanka , Serbia ) is a German natural scientist and manager . Between April 16, 2007 and June 2009 he was CEO of ARRI AG.

Professional background

Ilic studied physical chemistry at the universities of Belgrade (1976 to 1981) and Dresden (1982 to 1985). In 1981 he completed his studies in Belgrade, followed by his master's degree in France in 1982 and, finally, his habilitation in Graz ( Austria ) in 2002 .

1987 Ilic goes to Varta AG, where he works as research and development manager. On the basis of his research at the universities of Dresden and Graz, where Ilic examined chemical and electrochemical reactions between lithium metals and metal oxides, the scientist steers the technical development of the Varta Group in new directions: From now on the company is concentrating more on development and Manufacture of micro battery systems. In 1996 Ilic, meanwhile Chief Technical Officer , was in charge of the development of the most modern plant to date for the production of micro batteries.

In 1997 he made a sensational decision: contrary to the management trend prevailing in Germany, he relocated 500 jobs from Singapore back to Ellwangen . Private life

Even as a child, Ilic had a passion for volleyball. His talent is recognized early and promoted accordingly at Partizan Belgrade . At the age of sixteen he played in the Yugoslav national junior volleyball team. In the mid-1970s he became a semi-professional and financed his studies, among other things, from the income he earned as a player for the Italian club VC Medon and later TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . During his time at Varta, Ilic also played for TSV Ellwangen. Dejan Ilic is married, has one daughter and lives with his family in Munich and Ellwangen.
