Every year EY nominates the best entrepreneurs of the year

Entrepreneur Of The Year is an international entrepreneurship competition that was launched in 1986 by the international Ernst & Young group in the USA as the "EY Entrepreneur Of The Year" initiative . The award is now presented annually in around 60 countries around the world. The aim of the competition is to give impetus to other entrepreneurs by recognizing entrepreneurial achievements.

Entrepreneur Of The Year in Germany

In Germany, the competition was launched in 1996 by Ernst & Young . The previous winners run family businesses, upper medium-sized companies as well as young companies and come from different industries. In Germany, the Entrepreneurs of the Year are honored in four different categories: industry, consumer goods / trade, services / IT and young companies. In addition, the honorary prizes are awarded for family businesses and for social commitment.

A jury will select the best companies from various categories.

The Award Night to honor the winners and finalists will be held in Berlin. Partners and supporters of the initiative are LGT Bank, KEKST CNC, manager magazin and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung .

Eligibility criteria and selection process

The criteria for participation stipulate that the entrepreneur has an active role in management and has been largely responsible for business decisions and growth in recent years. The entrepreneur has to hold a significant stake in the company himself. The company headquarters must be in Germany and there must be at least 40 permanent employees (this does not apply to the start-up category).

The finalists are selected in a multi-stage process. The entrepreneur's performance, staff management and social commitment are taken into account as well as innovative strength, sustainability of growth and the company's future potential.

jury

A jury assesses the candidates and selects a winner in each of the different categories. The jury includes personalities from business and science: Ulrike Detmers , Christine Volkmann, Brigitte Mohn, Manfred Wittenstein , Sarna Röser, Hartmut Jenner, Natalie Mekelburger and Patrick Adenauer .
