The paint damage-free dent removal technique is a technique for repairing small dents in vehicles that have been caused by hail or parking damage, for example . It is used by professionals who colloquially as bubonic or Dell doctor or -drücker performed are referred to by means of special tools. The body part in question does not have to be painted after the dent removal, which means that the costs are lower. The selective repair of paint damage is called spot repair .

Dent removal companies are mostly partner companies of motor vehicle insurance companies who use the paint-free dent removal technology as a calculation basis for hail damage repairs. According to a ruling by the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court , workshops are required to use this method to repair damage.

Lever technology

The so-called lever technology has existed in large automobile plants since around 1970, where small dents that occurred during production were removed without repainting. This technology was later introduced into the automotive repair business.

Dell pressure

With the technique of dent pressing , the dents are pressed out selectively from the back of the sheet with the help of specially bent steel rods. In order to find the exact point on the opposite side of the dent when working, special lamps, shields or boards are used. These tools project parallel lines onto the paintwork of the vehicle with the help of reflections. If the reflection of the parallel lines is placed over the dent, distortions can be seen. By gently and targeted pressure on the back of the dent, it is pushed back until the lines run parallel again.

Adhesive technology

In recent years, an adhesive technique has been increasingly used, which is somewhat more complex, but also enables the processing of components on the vehicle that are inaccessible to lever technology, such as the roof frame. An adapter with a special hot glue is applied to the painted surface and pulled using a hammer or pliers. This causes the sheet metal to be processed to deform back.
