Six-lined wrasse

The six- lined wrasse ( Pseudocheilinus hexataenia ) lives widespread in the Indo-Pacific , on outer reefs, very hidden between stony corals . The up to 6 cm large animals live individually, in pairs or in harem groups with one male and several females.

Six-lined wrasse eat small invertebrates , which they track down in small cracks and caves.

Aquarium keeping

The six-lined wrasse is a popular keeper for marine aquariums . Due to its size, it can also be kept well in small tanks. Individual specimens can behave aggressively towards other aquarium inhabitants. However, observations have shown that this behavior is stopped or reduced if the fish is kept as a couple or in a group. The aquarium should be covered or at least have a glass walkway on the edge, as the livelier animals tend to jump out of the tank.

The six-striped wrasse easily accepts dry food, but also supplements its diet with small invertebrates that get into the aquarium with the live rock .
