Delphine Horvilleur (born November 8, 1974 in Nancy ) is a French rabbi of the Jewish-liberal movement in France ( French Mouvement juif libéral de France ).

Life

Delphine Horvilleur was born in Nancy in 1974. On her father's side, her family comes from Alsace-Lorraine , while her mother's family comes from the Carpathian region and emigrated to France as a survivor of the Shoah after the Second World War .

After attending school in France, she began studying medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel , which she did not complete. She then returned to France, worked as a model and began studying journalism at the École des hautes études en sciences de l'information et de la communication (Celsa) in Paris .

She then worked as a journalist for France 2 in Paris between 2000 and 2003 . Until 2008 she worked for the station in Jerusalem and New York City . In the meantime, she began training as a rabbi at the Hebrew Union College , whereupon she was ordained rabbi for the Jewish Liberal Movement in France in 2008 .

She now lives in Paris with her husband, who works there as mayor of the 4th arrondissement , and three children.
