Delta Bootis (short form δ Boo , Flamsteed name 49 Bootis ) is the fourth brightest star in the bear guardian . It represents the left shoulder of the mythological shepherd boat , on some celestial globes also his shepherd's staff.

The 3rd magnitude star has spectral class G8. It is 117 light years away from us and is a double star that can be clearly separated even in binoculars : angular distance approx. 105 ", magnitudes 3.5 and 8 mag.
