Demetrius Shipp Jr. (born November 20, 1988 ) is an American actor. He played the rapper Tupac Shakur in the biography All Eyez on Me , which premiered in American theaters in 2017.

Shipp was cast in 2011 for the role of Tupac Shakur . A friend suggested he attend this casting because of his strong resemblance to Tupac. Shipp stated in an interview that he never aspired to become an actor.

Filming for the film began in 2015. In June 2017 the film was released in theaters. Shipp's father worked with Tupac Shakur on the song Toss It Up for the album The Don Killuminati .

Shipp worked for the Target Corporation and Dish Network prior to his acting career .
