Demian is a French alternative rock - band , which was founded in 2007 by Nicolas Chapel.

history

The band name was inspired by Hermann Hesse's story Demian . Chapel's musical influences are diverse and range from Radiohead to Tori Amos to Ambient. All instruments and vocals on the first two studio albums are from Chapel, and he performs live with a full band. All publications were produced independently and recorded in Chapel's home studio, the location of which changed from one album to the next.

Building an Empire

The first studio album Building an Empire was released on May 19, 2008 via InsideOut Music and received positive reviews. The success of Building an Empire encouraged Chapel to put together a live band with drummer Gaël Hallier and bassist Antoine Pohu, which subsequently served as the opening act for various well-known rock and metal bands (including Oceansize , Anathema , Marillion , Steven Wilson & Aviv Geffen , Jonathan Davis ). On their European tour, Demians played more than 40 concerts in more than twelve countries.

Mute

The follow-up album Mute was released on June 28, 2010 (Europe) and August 10, 2010 (USA) via InsideOut (EMI). Chapel was again solely responsible for all of the instruments and vocals on the album. He was supported by two guest musicians: Gaël Hallier (drums) in Swing of the Airwaves and Hesitation Waltz , Lepolair (Electronics) in Porcelain . Despite the considerable changes compared to its predecessor, Mute received outstanding reviews worldwide and expanded the band's audience.

After the release of Mute , Fred Mariolle Demians officially joined as a guitarist.
