Oceansize was an English rock band from Manchester , formed in 1998 .

history

The members met while studying at the Manchester College of Music. The band originally consisted of Mike Vennart (vocals, guitar), Steve Durose (guitar, vocals), Gambler (guitar), Jon Ellis (bass) and Mark Heron (drums). The music can be settled in the alternative area, whereby a lot of progressive influences can be heard. Bassist Jon Ellis left the band in December 2005 after completing a European tour for personal reasons. He was replaced by Steven Hodson. This is called “Syndrome” and is like Gambler, who is actually called Richard A. Ingram.

Oceansize toured with The Cooper Temple Clause , Cave In , People in Planes , Aereogramme , Biffy Clyro , Porcupine Tree and Pure Reason Revolution . After releasing their second album in September 2005, they toured almost continuously. On September 28, 2007, the third studio album called Frames was released on Superball Music .

Her main musical influences include Pink Floyd , Black Sabbath , Can , Cardiacs , Jane's Addiction , (early) The Verve , Swervedriver , The Beach Boys , Nine Inch Nails , Gong , Heavy Vegetable , Silo , Biffy Clyro , Tool , Tortoise , Mogwai and My Bloody Valentine .

Oceansize has a friendship with the Manchester band Amplifier , and a large number of concerts have been played together. On February 25, 2011, the band announced their breakup.

"Dear Friends,

We regret to inform you that Oceansize have split up.

An explanation for this occurrence is neither forthcoming or indeed necessary. All that remains is to say THANK YOU for being there for us. It's been a very eventful and life-affirming 12 years. We'll miss you.

There will be more music from each of us as soon as possible. "
