Central association of Slovenian organizations in Carinthia
The Central Association of Slovenian Organizations in Carinthia ( Slovenian Zveza Slovenskih Organizacij na Koroškem , abbreviation: ZSO ) is an umbrella association of Slovenian organizations in Carinthia .
The ZSO sees itself as independent of parties, but was founded in 1955 to distinguish it from the church-related Council of Carinthian Slovenes and is therefore politically left-wing.
history
After the Second World War , the Osvobodilna fronta za slovensko Koroško was established to represent the Carinthian Slovenes. In 1949 the church-related Council of Carinthian Slovenes split off from it. As a counterweight, the Democratic Front of the Working People was also created in 1949 ( Slovenian Demokratična fronta delovnega ljudstva ), from which the ZSO emerged in 1955.
collaboration
Together with the Slovenian Cultural Association in Carinthia , the Central Association of Slovenian Organizations awards the Vinzenz Rizzi Prize to people and organizations who have made a name for themselves in intercultural understanding.
The ZSO works with the Council of Carinthian Slovenes in a coordination committee and they have jointly published the Slovenian weekly newspaper Novice since 2003 .
The ZSO works together in a joint committee with the community of Carinthian Slovenes , which split off from the council in 2003 .
