Demomaker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Demo Maker is a software to the modular system to create computer demos. Demomakers were created by demoscene groups mainly for internal use, but are often also available free of charge to everyone.

In the commercial sector, the Data Becker publishing house published the Demomaker program for Amiga ( 1991 ) and PC ( 1992 , new price at that time 49 DM). With this, animations such as scrolling text or rotating stars could be created without programming effort via a mouse-controlled surface and saved as a self- running file (for PC: * .exe ). The program was one of the first of its kind. The developer behind it was the Red Sector demo group .

Among people in the demo scene, the classic demo makers have a rather negative reputation, because the conventional creation of a demo is associated with proving one's artistic and programming skills and often using the existing computers to the limit.

Nowadays the term demomaker has increasingly faded into the background. Modern programs are much more complex and mostly serve as aids to create 3D objects , for example , to position them in the environment and to determine the course of the demo without questioning the creators' performance. Well-known modern development tools are .werkkzeug from the demo group farbrausch and Demopaja from Moppi Productions.
