The March fallen monument is a listed stone in the Kröllwitz district of the city of Leuna in Saxony-Anhalt . The war memorial is listed in the local monument register under registration number 094 20800 as an architectural monument .

history

The memorial, erected in 1927 on the path of the March fallen, commemorates the victims of the March fighting from March 21 to 29, 1921 in Leuna. Workers at the BASF plant built their own tanks and used them to defend themselves against the military. The fighting lasted a week and ended in the defeat of the workers. During the GDR era, the site was expanded to include the memorial to become a parade ground. Today, however, the memorial is back in its original state.

layout

The monument is a boulder surrounded by a fence . In the top of the boulder you can see a raised fist and an inscription on it as a relief . The inscription reads:

ON THE ADMINISTRATION

1927 <THROUGH FIGHT TO VICTORY> 1927

A plaque with the names of the victims is located at the foot of the monument.
