Memorial stone for Ludeke Mozellenburch

The memorial stone for Ludeke Mozellenburch in Everstorf near Grevesmühlen is one of the oldest monuments in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg . As a murder cheek , the medieval stone at the scene of the crime still reminds of the victim of the violent crime.

The stone

The atonement stone is located north of the federal highway 105 in Everstorf on the way from Grevesmühlen to Hoikendorf. The limestone is a 2.14 meter high cheek with a round head about fifty centimeters wide, which is carved as a relief on both sides. It is badly attacked by weathering and is therefore protected by a protective roof. A crucifix can be seen on either side of the cheek . On the eastern side the picture shows an unarmed man, probably the citizen of the Hanseatic city of Wismar Ludeke Mozellenburch who was slain at this point in 1391 . On the western side stand next to the crucifix Maria and Johannes . Below is the victim, already shown on the other side, kneeling next to his family coat of arms. This side facing Wismar contains the request “miserere mei.” ( Latin : have mercy on me ). Including “Ano: dni: m: ccc: xci: ipo: die dece: miliu: ludeke: mo: zellebuch: ciuis: i: wismer: h ': it': fect ': est. or: deu: p: eo “( In the year of the Lord 1391 on the day of the ten thousand [martyrs, so on June 22nd] Ludeke Mozellenburch, citizen of Wismar, was slain here. Pray God for him , that is, for the salvation of his soul). There are also two banners on the western side: In front of the kneeling man, represented as his words: "o: mater: dei: memento mei" ( O Mother of God: remember me ) and underneath an explanatory note: "mozellenburch or: p: eo" ( Mozelleburch: pray for him ).
