The company was founded in 1970 by the qualified engineer Peter Denz, who had previously studied aircraft construction in Zurich and Munich, and specialized in the development, manufacture and sale of high-tech precision products for industry as well as in development, manufacture and sales of cinematographic film and video products.

The patented development of the world's first video control system was achieved as early as 1971, which was further developed in 1990 to become the video control system color.

In 1982 the Denz company took over Deniz and thereby expanded its product portfolio to include the underwater housing and underwater accessories product lines.

In 1996, company founder Peter Denz received the Oscar for technical merits from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for developing a flicker-free color video camera, and Denz received the Cinec Award in the field of camera technology.

Since 2001 the company has also been manufacturing precision parts for the aerospace industry ( Ariane IV and V) and for Formula 1 (racing engines).

The certification of the quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008 by TÜV Süd took place in 2009.

In 2009 the patent was granted for the FDC, a measuring and adjusting device for digital video cameras, which premiered at the NAB show in Las Vegas.
