Deon Taylor (born January 25, 1976 in Chicago ) is an American screenwriter , film director and producer .

Life

Deon Taylor was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Gary , Indiana . He and his mother moved to Sacramento during high school. As a professional basketball player, he secured a place in the NBA Entertainment League. He earned a degree in biology from San Diego State University on a basketball scholarship.

In Sacramento, Taylor founded the Hidden Empire Film Group. The low-budget horror series Nite Tales: The Series , which he directed on behalf of BET, had a million viewers when it first aired. After the success of the series, he produced a number of other horror films and television programs under the Night Tales Presents label .

His action thriller Black and Blue was released in US theaters in October 2019.
