Depil [ ˈdeːpɪl ] (literally spot, point, center ; Danish : Deble ) is a very small place on Borðoy in the northwest of the Faroe Islands . In December 2015, the place, which belongs to the Faroese municipality of Hvannasund , only had two residents. The zip code is FO-735.

Depil is located on the east coast of Borðoy between Norðdepil and Norðtoftir . The road from Klaksvík to Viðoy Island passes here. The place was first mentioned in 1584. The name Depil (meaning “meeting point”) may go back to the geographical location in the middle of the six northern islands . Remains of a prayer house were discovered near the main courtyard, an indication of a formerly larger population. The main courtyard has not been inhabited since 2006 and is now an open-air museum. However, the village was already depopulated in the 18th century, as more and more land in the village came into the possession of outsiders. At the 1801 census, only three people lived in Depil. With its two inhabitants today, Depil is one of the smallest towns in the Faroe Islands. However, the village has its own zip code.
